Introduction

These homemade ground chicken nuggets are juicy on the inside, crispy on the outside, and packed with flavor. They’re healthier than store-bought and easy enough for weeknight cooking. Perfect for kids, adults, and meal prep!

Ingredients

  • 500g ground chicken
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (plus extra for coating)
  • 2 tbsp grated Parmesan (optional)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
  • Oil for frying or spraying (if baking/air-frying)

Instructions

  1. Mix the chicken base: In a bowl, combine ground chicken, egg, breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, pepper, and parsley. Mix until just combined.
  2. Shape nuggets: Scoop small portions and shape into nugget pieces.
  3. Coat: Roll each nugget in extra breadcrumbs for a crispy exterior.
  4. Choose a cooking method:
    • Pan-Fry: Heat oil in a pan over medium. Fry nuggets 3–4 minutes per side until golden and cooked through.
    • Bake: Place on a lined tray, spray with oil, and bake at 400°F (200°C) for 15–18 minutes.
    • Air-Fry: Spray with oil and air-fry at 380°F (190°C) for 10–12 minutes, flipping halfway.
  5. Serve: Enjoy with ketchup, ranch, or your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Don’t overmix the meat—keeps the nuggets tender.
  • Add chili flakes for a spicy version.
  • Panko breadcrumbs make a crispier crust.

Variations

  • Cheese-filled: Add a small cube of mozzarella in the center of each nugget.
  • Herb & Lemon: Add 1 tsp lemon zest and extra parsley.
  • BBQ Nuggets: Mix 1 tbsp BBQ sauce into the meat mixture.

Storage

Reheat: Air-fry or bake for best crispiness.

Fridge: 3 days in an airtight container.

Freezer: Freeze uncooked nuggets on a tray, then store in a bag for up to 2 months. Cook from frozen, adding a few extra minutes.
